Under 14 Football District Final

On Sunday 19th May Penrith Lions Club hosted the District Final of the Under 14 Football competition between castleton and a team from Rossendale at Newton Rigg College.

The teams provided an excellent game of football. Rossendale played some attractive football but castletowns direct style resulted in them gaining a half time lead of 2-0.

The second half continued in the same vein with castletown eventaully running out 4-0 winners.

The teams then retired to the Evergreen centre where the Lions ladies laid on an excellent tea.
Tree Planting at Dacre Beck

Members of Penrith Lions Club joined pupils from Stainton school to plant young trees at Dacre Beck on Wednesday 15th May.

Will Cleasby from Eden Rivers Trust showed children how to plant the trees and the Lions helped them to plant them. After the trees were planted the farmer showed the children some young calves.
Lions Clubs Under 14 Seven-a-Side football Competition

Penrith Lions Club took two teams to this competition at Skelmesdale on Sunday 12th May.

Castletown and Penrith Under 14's competed with six other teams from Lions District 105bn at the above competition. Unfortunately we had heavy rain throughout the afternoon. The competition was run as two leagues with the winners and runners up competing for the top prize. There was also a plate competition for the lower placed team. Castletown under 14's eventually finished up runners up to a team from Crosby in Lancashire.
Tree Planting at Thacka Beck
with pupils from Brunswick Road School
Tuesday 9th May

Penrith Lions Club joined with pupils from Brunswick Road school to plant trees at Thacka Beck.

Aided by Will Cleasby from Eden Rivers Trust and Kevin Scott and Sophie Court from Cumbria Wildlife Trust the children planted oak, silver birch, hawthorn, hazel and rowan supervised by the Lions and their ladies.

Head teacher Sharon Sanderson planted an oak sapling from seed collected at the Royal Household Estates. Hopefully the children will be able to follow the growth of the trees over the next 30 years
